If you have been following along with me through the last couple of weeks, you may have noticed a trend where I have been talking a lot about citizens and their engagement and involvement in elections and politics as a whole. In one of my posts, I touched on the topic of democracy and whether or not "the people" (citizens just like you and I) truly have the power when it comes to democracy in America. This has been an ongoing debate not only in America, but all around the world, and it will likely continue to be debated for foreseeable future. Which means, that as of now and for the foreseeable future, there is no real definitive answer as to whether or not we the people have any true power or control.
That being said, it is up to us as "the people" to step up and take action to make our voices heard. The best way we can do that is to get out there, get involved, get engaged, volunteer, get your friends and family involved, and most importantly- GO VOTE! In my most recent post, I talked with you about the upcoming 2024 election and the current candidates, and below I have listed several resources that provide you with the latest information on the upcoming 2024 Presidential Election including information on the candidates running for offices on all sides, important dates and timelines, as well as other useful information.
Thank you for taking the time to follow along with me this semester reading and replying to my blog. I appreciate each and every one of you.

ReplyDeleteWhat a great list of resources for those that want more information about politics and how to get involved. You are also absolutely correct that we are "the people" that need to stand up and do things to see the changes that "we" want. Perhaps having more civics class would jump start some of the young minds into wanted to go into a field dealing with politics. I was talking to a friend recently and she does not know much about politics and she just chalked it up to not learning anything in school and her parents not really talking about politics at all with her or around her, they wanted her to make up her mind which is also a good thing but missed out on some of the fundamentals. She would have benefited from a list like the one you shared. I hope you have a good rest of the semester, it has been great getting to talk politics with everyone, especially ones that are on the other side of my view points.
DeleteHi Steven, thanks for your reply! I absolutely love the idea of adding more civic classes, especially at the high school level! I think it is very important that people learn these things, and I hope to see some change relating to this in the future. Good luck the rest of the semester!
DeleteIt really is our turn! I've been peeping in on this blog and love that you have been talking about engagement! This is something we really need to work on as a society. We see so many people complain about our politics but most of them don't even do anything induct change! It's really as simple as doing research and going to VOTE! I really appreciate that you included some useful links to help out everyone on this! We should push this more on our young generation because a lot of us haven't been exposed to these resources. The more we educate people on politics, the more we will see engagement with our politics. Great blog!
ReplyDeleteHi Max! Thanks for peeping in on my blog and for taking the time out to reply! I completely agree that too often people complain about, not only politics, but also about the state of the world as a whole, but do not do anything to try and affect change. For the longest time I did not vote, I was actually in my mid to late 20s before I ever voted, and that was because I personally did not feel as though I kept enough with politics or knew enough about the candidates to vote. That being said, I also never complained about who was in office and how they were running the country. I did not feel that I had the place if I was not willing to vote or engage. As I have gotten older, and especially after I had children, I realized that citizen engagement and voting is so important, so I make sure I take my turn and get out there and vote!
DeleteHave a great rest of the semester!
