Israel-Gaza Conflict and the United States

 







Everywhere you right now, you see news stories, social media posts, protests, and so many other things relating to the latest happening in the Israel-Palestine conflict. The conflict began, as many do, as a fight over land and freedom. This conflict dates back more than a century and has been the root of at least seven major wars. The most recent conflict resulted from a group known as Hamas, which is an Islamic resistance movement, and their desire “to free Palestinian prisoners, stop Israeli aggression on al-Aqsa Mosque, and to break the siege on Gaza.” (The Washington Post, 2023) Hamas broke through Israeli border in a calculated attack on October 7th claiming the lives of more than 1000 people and taking hostage many more. In response, Israel has waged war. 

The United States has been an ally of Israel for many years and has pledged its loyalty to Israel through this current conflict. Earlier this week, President Biden made a visit to Israel to show his support and discuss how the US can provide military support and other aid to Israel during this time. 

So, my question to you is, how do you think the US's involvement in the Israel-Gaza Conflict affect the 2024 election? Could this send us to war and if so, will this cost Biden the 2024 election? How will this affect the way people get involved?

It's Your Turn!

If you have been following along with me through the last couple of weeks, you may have noticed a trend where I have been talking a lot about citizens and their engagement and involvement in elections and politics as a whole. In one of my posts, I touched on the topic of democracy and whether or not "the people" (citizens just like you and I) truly have the power when it comes to democracy in America. This has been an ongoing debate not only in America, but all around the world, and it will likely continue to be debated for foreseeable future. Which means, that as of now and for the foreseeable future, there is no real definitive answer as to whether or not we the people have any true power or control.  That being said, it is up to us as "the people" to step up and take action to make our voices heard.
